Wefts

 Hand Tied vs. Machine

Hand Tied wefts are thin wefts tied by hand, small sections of hair are attached with 3 threads to form the weft. Hand tied wefts lay closer to the scalp and are ideal for undetectable, flat, natural looking hair extensions. Hand tied wefts are mainly used in the front or at the top of the head to avoid bumps. These wefts can be sewn, glued or taped in. Hand tied wefts are delicate and should not be cut with out sealing, this can cause excessive shedding. By sealing we mean adding nail glue, or some type of sealant to the area cut to prevent shedding. See our sealing section below for more information. Never sew through the weft, sew around it. Sewing through the weft can cause damage and shedding.

Machine wefts are sewn together with many threads and reinforced several times for durability. Machine wefts are more common and can be cut anywhere. These wefts can be installed all over the head they still lay flatter than most bulky machine wefts. Since machine wefts are more durable they do not have to be sealed but to prolong the life of the weft it is recommended. Machine wefts can be sewn, glued, or taped in. However, never sew through the weft, sew around it. Sewing through the weft can cause damage and shedding.
